Marketing Collateral

Goal: Print an advertising project more sustainably, yet retain the high-end look and feel.

Solution:

  • Switch to an uncoated, recycled paper stock with 100% post-consumer waste (PCW) content.
  • Minimize the carbon footprint by using 100% renewable energy credits (RECs) to offset the carbon signature of both paper and manufacturing.

Corporate Communications

Publishing

Goal: Minimize the economic and environmental impact of a 36-page project with 48,000 pieces to be printed each month for a full year.

Solution:

  • Reduce the size of each piece by approximately 15% — from 8.75” x 10.875” to 7.75” x 10.5”.
  • Use 70# coated FSC® certified paper containing 50% post-consumer waste (PCW).

Savings:

  • Total paper usage decreased by 2,500 lbs.

Direct Mail Campaign

Goal: Eliminate product obsolescence for a major pharmaceutical client by converting its marketing kit campaign from the traditional print/warehouse/distribution model to an upscale print-on-demand (POD) campaign.

Solution:

  • Use FSC® certified paper with 30% PCW content that’s elemental chlorine free.
  • Print with 100% renewable energy credits (RECs) to offset the carbon signature of the paper and manufacturing process.
  • Convert to more efficient integrated communications, personalization and campaign management to increase ROI and response rate.

Packaging

  • Convert the paperboard to FSC® certified material with 10% PCW content.

Large Format POP

Goal: Find a more sustainable alternative to the vinyl previously used for 500 8′ x 24′ banners.

Solution:

  • Convert to recyclable RPET polyester material with 100% PCW content made from recycled plastic water bottles.
  • Minimize carbon footprint by printing with 100% RECs to offset the carbon signature of the plastic and manufacturing process.

Savings:

  • The equivalent of 313,600 500mL plastic water bottles diverted from landfills
  • 2,775,000 kWh less energy used – equivalent of powering 104 homes for a year
  • 1,692 metric tons of greenhouse gases reduced – equivalent of taking 340 cars off
    the road for a year

Retail POP

Goal: Create a more sustainable approach for an in-store POP promotion consisting of 4,800 12″ x 18″ Duratrans display cubes.

Solution:

  • Replace backlit Duratrans with EarthColor’s patent-pending Earth•Everlit® display product.
  • Maximize the product’s reflective material with little or no backlighting required, thereby reducing energy consumption.
  • Use 100% recyclable RPET plastic with 25% PCW from recycled PET water bottles.

Savings:

  • The equivalent of diverting 2,773 500mL plastic bottles from landfills
  • 2,200 kWh less energy used – the equivalent of powering 0.08 homes for a year
  • 1.4 metric tons of greenhouse gases reduced – the equivalent of taking 0.27 cars off the road for a year
