Environmental Protection- Driving the Journey (1)

Environmental Protection: Driving the Journey 2 Ways We Promote Goal 13 of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals

We can and will protect our environment and slow climate change by working together. We’re already doing it. Environmental Protection is the third of the seven principles in the EarthColor Ecosystem. And, it’s in total accord with Goal 13 of the United Nations Sustainability Goals: “To take urgent action to combat climate change and all its impacts.”

Leaders in science, business and government all over the world agree. Increasing levels of greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) are warming the planet and changing our climate, and if we don’t act now, the future of our environment on Earth is in jeopardy.

As your print communications partner, we’re engaged in two lines of defense: 1) reduce or eliminate greenhouse gas emissions in our processes; and 2) minimize our carbon footprint via carbon offset programs.

To achieve the first objective, we are focused on neutralizing the carbon footprint of our products. Whenever and wherever we can, we’re reducing our energy usage and subsequent GHG emissions for electricity and natural gas, and migrating away from fossil fuel-based energy to power our operations. The second objective is being met by purchasing Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) to offset our carbon usage, working in partnership with clients, suppliers, social and environmental organizations.

As reported in our 2015-2016 Sustainability Report, since 2012, we have reduced our carbon emissions by 25.5%; purchased 1,000 metric tons of carbon offsets; and offset GHGs by 107%. Our VOC emissions are down by 18% since 2008, our baseline year. In 2015, we helped our clients reduce their impact on the environment to the tune of 64.79 million pounds of greenhouse gases. That’s like taking 3,862 cars off the road!

As we move forward, we will do our part to combat climate change, continuing to explore new products, innovative processes and creative solutions that will further reduce our carbon footprint.
